Downing - Education Specialist

Janice has worked with ARA for over 15 years.  She started her career as an In-Home Service Specialist providing services to rural villages all across Alaska. After transitioning to an Education Specialist, she continues to enjoy enriching the lives of people living with dementia and their care partners by offering encouragement and hope to make their dementia journey a little bit easier.

Janice has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development through Warner Pacific University in Portland, Oregon.  She is also a Positive Approach to Care (PAC) Certified Independent Trainer and a PAC Certified Engagement Leader offering best practices in dementia care.

One of her accomplishments is having been a care partner to her parents and currently caring for a family member.  Her philosophy: Dementia challenges us to respond in different ways to offer hope, meaning, and quality of life to people living with dementia and their care partners.

Mengel - Mat-Su Care Coordination Supervisor

Audri connects individuals from all walks of life to the services they need to live a full and happy life. She values face-to-face interaction with each individual and their entire team. She knows that the individuals and family members who have been there since day one have voices that need to be heard.

For six years, Audri worked as a Direct Service Provider and volunteered with Special Olympics Alaska Bowling Team. She was a partner and mentor for athletes but admits that most of the time, they were teaching her!

Audri has an immense amount of experience working one-on-one with people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has a certified nurse assistant license and is working towards a degree in nursing.

Alyssa
Alyssa
Russell - Care Coordinator

Alyssa has worked with CCRA/ARA for over 2 years. She was influenced to become a Care Coordinator by her parents who work with individuals with special needs and physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities. This inspired her to attend the University of Anchorage Alaska and obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology and minoring in Justice.

Alyssa is an extremely caring advocate for the clients under her care. She values face-to-face interactions, connecting with each client individually to better determine the services and assistance necessary so they can live their life to the fullest. She feels that it is extremely important that her clients and their families feel valued and heard. Her mission is to continue to help as many individuals as possible.

In her spare time, Alyssa loves spending time with her family, dog, and two cats. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing and gardening.

Bertolone - Care Coordinator

Dana grew up in Michigan with her father, mother and younger brother. She attended Oakland University in Rochester Hills Michigan, earning a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 2003. Dana moved to Alaska in November 2020 with her boyfriend and their German Shepherd KOBA. They enjoy taking KOBA to the dog park and going for hikes in the valley. Dana looks forward to building a house and making memories in Alaska!

She choose to be a care coordinator because she wants to help advocate for Alaskans in need and help them live a full life—to help tear down obstacles that one might face and give them the best possible outcomes. Dana says that helping others brings her great joy!

Tanner - Care Coordinator

As a Care Coordinator, Olga work with participants who need support to live safely and as independently as possible in the home of their choice by assisting them with getting services to maintain quality of life. She ensure that the participants have a choice, safety, independence, and dignity in-home and community-based living with quality services to promote independence and incorporate each individual’s culture and value system.

Prior to joining CCRA in 2016 Olga was a Care Coordinator for Mat-Su Senior Services for 5 years. She also has experience as a nationally certified medical assistant, a PCA, and as a house manager at an assisted living facility for 4 years.

Bartz - Care Coordinator

As a parent of a child who needs extra care, Amber has acquired the skills to advocate for and assist families on a very personal level. She strives to be a resource to those she works for and always listens to both the words that are said and the ones that aren’t.

Amber believes that family is an integral part of the team and attempts to give them a voice whenever she can. She has spent 16-years providing suggestions and assisting with accessing or changing services as well as linking people to grants and programs and much more.

Amber works primarily with Children with Complex Medical Conditions and people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. She is always open to learning from those she works with and willing to share her own personal experiences. Amber has an Associates of Applied Science degree and Bachelor of Health Science degree in Human Services with an emphasis on Family and Youth Services from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

O'Donnell - Care Coordinator

Christine, a lifelong Alaskan born and raised in the Alaskan bush, is passionate about improving the lives of fellow Alaskans facing challenges. With over 10 years of experience serving Alaskan seniors and a background in Early Child Development (CDA), Christine worked at Providence Early Learning Center for 11 years, gaining extensive experience with children with disabilities at a preschool/kindergarten level.

Her personal experiences with Alzheimer’s and dementia, both within her family and among clients affected by the disease, inspired Christine’s interest in Care Coordination. This career choice was solidified after working with Care Coordinators both personally and professionally. She sees it as a way to better serve the Alaskan community and looks forward to building relationships with individuals and their families.

In her free time, Christine enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing at home, and participating in Dog Sports around the State with her three dogs.

Rebecca
Rebecca
Cooney - Care Coordinator

Rebecca brings her background in education, holding a BA in Art Education from the University of Maine in Orono, to our care coordination team. With a strong understanding of reasonable accommodation, educational modifications, adaptive approaches, and individualized plans, Rebecca is well-equipped for her role.

Her journey leading up to joining CCRA includes several years of experience. In her most recent position, she served in case management for a local provider agency. Rebecca has also contributed in various capacities, providing direct care support as a PCA, DSP, Job Coach, ABA classroom aide, Camp Counselor for disabled children and adults, and elder care for a beloved family member.

Excited to be part of the supportive environment at CCRA, Rebecca appreciates the unique atmosphere that fosters growth and purpose. She values the daily opportunities to collaborate with an amazing team that shares her values. Rebecca sees CCRA as a place where she can achieve her goal of advocating for others and raising awareness about the unique individuals the team serves.
